August 17, 10th week of CSA

Better late than never! I, Nicole, totally and completely forgot to do the newsletter last night:)

This weeks box holds:

  • garlic
  • onions
  • tomatoes
  • peppers
  • eggplant or beans
  • carrots
  • swiss chard
  • lettuce
  • yellow squash
  • zephyr squash
  • zucchini
  • basil
  • hakurei turnips
  • potatoes
Hakurei turnips are a new item for the season. They are often eaten raw sliced in salads, although they also make a wonderful appearance in stir-fries and soups. They do not need to be peeled, just gently washed.  The greens are edible and have a wonderful flavor when lightly steamed or sauteed.
I hope you are finding lots of enjoyment out of your food each week:-)
